Setting Goals For Business While Being Mindful of Your Attachment

I want to talk about goal setting and how beautiful, yet, f*cking terrible it can be. In episode 75 of the Fierce as F*ck Podcast, I am diving into the entire concept behind goal setting and why you have to be mindful about how much attachment you allow yourself to the outcome of those goals.

In case this is your first time stopping by, hello beautiful people! My name is Amanda King and I’m an empowerment coach. I believe in going against pretty much what every other coach out there says, and I’m passionate as f*ck about helping empower women to step out of fear and into 6-figure sales.

So if you’re ready to learn how to f*ck fear and build the business of your dreams, this podcast – and ALL of the Fierce as F*ck Brand – is for you!

In today’s episode, we are talking all about goal setting and a common mistake I see in clients, coaches, and more when it comes to attaching yourself to the outcome of those goals. So check out more of my insight on this below, and be sure to tune in to episode 75 of the Fierce as F*ck Podcast to hear even more details.

Setting Goals For Business, Point #1: I became obsessed with my goal, my goal wasn’t fun anymore.

I hit $100k worth of sales within three months of opening my business, it was insane. To this day, I have no f*cking idea how it happened but it did. When it happened, I felt extremely pulled to create this wild crazy goal that was so obscene that everyone would think I’m f*cking nuts. Something in my gut told me to tell people I will make $500,000 in sales by the end of the year. Logic had nothing to do with this, it was just a feeling I had deep down inside that I could accomplish this goal.

Everyone thought I was out of my mind. I set this intention with the universe, and it happened. It became something that exploded and it was beautiful, but also terrible. You may be wondering how this goal could be terrible, and it’s because something happened last year. I became obsessed with my goal, my goal wasn’t fun anymore. My goal became everything about me, who I was as a coach, and defined who I was as a person. It made my ego take on the front wheel and everything in my business became about hitting this goal in an unhealthy way.

Setting Goals

Setting Goals For Business, Point #2: When I stopped counting my sales every month and surrendered to the universe, I decided that if I don’t hit my goals, I’d still be a badass. That’s when the magic truly f*cking happened.

When I hit my huge goal, you think I’d feel happy and excited, I felt nothing. I was so numb towards this goal because it had just owned me. My coaches were messaging me and congratulating me, wondering why I wasn’t celebrating accomplishing the goal. I was happy that I didn’t feel anything, I realized that I attached my self-worth so much to that goal, I didn’t even really know who I was at the end of the year when I hit it. So, I stopped counting my sale every month as I had been, I surrendered the universe. I said f*ck it, I don’t care, if I hit this goal that’s great. If I don’t, I’m still a badass. That’s when the magic truly f*cking happened. I released the outcome of this goal, and all of the sudden, the goal came to fruition.

This year, everything has f*cked with us, right? 2020 has been a rough year, to say the least. I stepped into my business this year thinking about how I didn’t want to set any goals, I had a terrible perspective of goal setting. Six months into this year, I hadn’t set any goals. I was so terrified of becoming obsessed. I didn’t want to attach myself to the outcome of the goal. When I started teaching human design and recognizing that I thrive on goal setting, I had to look at the way I had done goal setting last year. I wanted to continue setting beautiful goals but not attach myself to the outcome of them.

Setting Goals For Business, Point #3: I’m not going to let the goal define me, I’m going to define the goal.

I need to make my goals bigger than a number and focus more on celebrating and having fun. I want to emphasize more on connecting with people signing up for the offers instead. I want to make everything about these goals pure f*cking joy and happiness. So, I did set a goal at the beginning of this month, August 2020.  I was running a masterclass, Be Authentic as F*ck Human Design. This was my first masterclass teaching human design after spending months studying it. I wanted to create the best goal and number but this time also have f*cking fun with it. I won’t let the goal define me, I will define the goal.

I put 100 numbers on a board and said I will pull in 100 women for this masterclass organically, no Facebook Ads. We will have a minimalistic sales page. So, I began launching the masterclass and sure enough, more and more women started signing up. I decided to celebrate every single woman who signed up and have fun with this whole thing. I did a reel, an Instagram story, a dance party, and celebrated the sh*t out of everyone joining in on the masterclass. Did I reach 100 people? I didn’t. So far we are at 50 women who signed up, a lot of coaches would see that and think about how they aren’t a good coach because they didn’t reach their goal. Yet, they forget how far they’ve come and all the progress they’ve made.

Setting Goals For Business While Being Mindful of Your Attachment: The Bottomline

You have to detach yourself from what that number means about you, it means nothing about you. You are f*cking incredible and you are a great coach. You will change the world, I promise you that. A number is nothing but a number. The second you allow yourself to let go of the outcome is the second you start realizing you are a powerhouse.

You are incredible and you are everything you are meant to be at this moment. You will reach goals in the future, do not tie yourself to one goal right now.

I love you guys so much and thank you for being here with me. Be sure to tune in to episode 75 of the Fierce as F*ck Podcast for even more motivation and inspiration to show up as your fiercest, most authentic self!
