I knew deep down in my soul, I shouldn’t have taken on a lot of clients that I did last year. I was just going off survival mode, I wanted the money. I took on a lot of one on one clients I knew weren’t right, or would have trouble paying or weren’t ready for the services. In my head, I convinced myself to take them on anyway to make money and survive. I figured I couldn’t be picky so I worked with everybody. Because I did this, I f*cked up so much in 2019 with my one on one services. It was a beautiful lesson right after another.
The universe was showing me, this wasn’t right and you still took on these clients, so I’ll give you the exact outcome you knew was coming. That happened all of 2019, one after another, I had some great amazing one on one clients, but I also had some of the worst. So at the end of 2019 moving into 2020, I started to energetically block my one on one offerings. Anytime I put out an offer about three spots left for one on one services, I shut it down instantly, figuring nobody would buy it and nobody should buy it. I feared that the same thing from 2019 would happen and it was a downward spiral.
Anytime someone reached out to me, I would think they wouldn’t buy, and I would shut it down. Anytime I thought of one on one containers, my stomach turned, and I felt like there was no value to it anymore. I knew I was a good coach but the one on one containers ended up suffocating me. Honestly, I thought it was because of my past mistakes of 2019 and I f*cked up so many times, but I started diving deeper. I recognized something else about one on one containers, I started getting breakthroughs with one on one containers. Why do I not like it so much? Why do I have resistance taking on one on one clients? This is the coaching bread and butter, so why do I not feel the way other coaches do?
I started thinking back to my experience with a one on one container between my coaches, I recognized the container felt very pressured. It felt like as a coach, I was taught to come to the container and say things like, “What you want to work on today?”, “What are you struggling with?”, “What are your goals for the call today?” I was asking all these prompting questions at the beginning of the call, I started noticing those questions made me feel extremely pressured. I would come to calls pressured with negative energy because I didn’t want to come to the calls with a problem, and I felt like I had to have a problem. I wanted to come to the calls when things were great, not just when things were sh*tty.

I had this epiphany, we create one on one containers solely based on problems, that is what we do as coaches. I’m not necessarily saying that’s wrong, there are times in a one on one container that need to be focused on inner-work. However, in a 6-month container, not all 6 months should be heavy ass inner work. It should be abundance, laughter, clients don’t need to come with a problem. The client should be able to come to the container feeling no pressure whatsoever, they’re just there to talk to their coach.
Some clients just want to come to the container to talk, what if I create a container where they can do just that? Imagine what the container would look like, full of no pressure, full of just love. That’s the kind of one on one container that we as coaches should focus on, it shouldn’t be problem-centric. I did a live video recently in my group letting people know I will no longer hold space for a container that is so pressure-packed and problem-solving focused. I want to hold space for people who want to celebrate, and not spend 6 months in an energetic low. I want to support and guide you, not just aim to fix your problems.
If you are a coach right now who is currently struggling with energetically blocking a one on one container, ask yourself why? Is it your own experience with one on one containers? If you are not aligned with how other people are doing things and this pressure built situation, build your container that feels aligned to you. As coaches, we tell each other not to be put in boxes but yet, as coaches the first thing we do is put ourselves in boxes.
